How to Make Tiny Polymer Clay (Fimo) Food

We had so much fun making these tiny little fimo cupcakes. They only took a few minutes to make.
A Very Quick Tutorial for This Very Easy Craft
- Buy the clay in any colours you like (available at any craft store and fabric stores, Spotlight in Australia)
- Search the Net for ideas. I always do this because the NET is jam-packed with ideas.
- Make your little food by rolling, squishing and moulding the clay.
- I found that some utensils can be handy, like toothpicks to make the indents on the cupcakes.
- Turn your oven on to 120 degrees celcius and place the food onto a pizza tray.
- Cook for about ten to fifteen minutes. Take them out when they are hard. Watch it closely because they can burn easily!
- Let them cool and then paint them with a clear lacquer (that you can also buy at a craft store).
Inspiration from the Net
- I heart Fariesmak and her incredible fimo food jewellery.
- I love PancakeMeow and her amazing fimo food jewellery
- Couleur Clementine’s bright and colourful fimo buttons and jewellery. This is a French site. When I searched it seems that French crafters are Fimo mad!
Uses for Polymer Clay Food
- Perfect for a little girl’s dollhouse
- Make them into a very cute brooch for a necklace
- Little party favours at a little girl’s party
- To display in an old printer’s tray, mounted on the wall
- Try to join a Club Littlehouse swap
- Display anywhere in the house
- Cute as presents for a little or a big girl
- Glue magnets to them with a hot glue gun and use them as fridge magnets (good idea Mia)
Polymer Clay is fun and easy to work with. This makes it a little addictive!
Thoughts?

Excellent. You know I was looking in the Henry Bucks catalogue at the Christmas gifts, and the thing that is apparently in for teens is bling for their mobile phones. Cute little pendants that hang off the phone, and when I saw Belinda’s stitch markers I thought of that.

[...] Feeling crafty? Try our little (and I mean tiny little cakes) cupcake tutorial to make polymer clay cupcakes. These are so fun. We had so much fun making them and they still get used in the doll house, and frequently all the stick-thin Barbie Dolls will sit around at the kitchen table and eat copious amounts of cupcakes. Oh yeah, these are fat-free too. These little cakes could be used as earrings, on necklaces, on zippers and I love the way Tutti Fruitti has used them as stitch markers for her knitting, how cute and clever! [...]
