The ‘C’ Word (No, not that one)
“….in 2003 when I was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. I thought my life was over, I had no idea it was just getting started!” Kris Carr
Hi Ya Crafty Chicalittas,
The C is not for Craft but for another C-word (no not that one, blush, blush) – cancer.
No, before I get a myriad of e-mails wishing me well, I don’t have cancer and hope never to. But I have been thinking about cancer for the last months, mainly because my Auntie Ros died of it recently. She battled breast cancer for 12 years. She was indeed the classiest lady I have ever known and my whole family feels devastated by the loss (particularly mum)!
In the last few days I have been really touched by the cancer journey of an old friend of mine, Cameron Harris. I am inspired by cancer warriors like Cam and Kris, who are strong enough to write about their battles and inspire others. I am inspired by their wit and humour and honesty, dealing with something so difficult.
And I just wanted to shout out to all you sexy, cancer patients who are readers of One Hour Craft.
To those of you with cancer at the moment, I bow deeply and humbly to your courage. I encourage you to king hit this illness with all you got inside and to keep doing so every day. I wish for you to always have ideas that free you, amazing plans for an incredible future, an annoyingly close family, a posse of crazy, boisterous and loving friends to surround you, quiet afternoons in the sun and the inspiration to create beautiful things. Oh and music to calm…..
Love, love, love
Mia
